You need to gather documents like a letter confirming you qualify for a mortgage, bank statements, proof of salary and proof that you will have the deposit. How Do I Apply?

Once you have all your documents together, applying online is straightforward. We've a few tips on getting one step closer to your new affordable home:

The Help To Buy scheme is a tax rebate provided by the Irish government which helps first-time buyers overcome the hurdle of getting their deposit together. The scheme can be used in conjunction with the Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme.

The scheme will help you with the deposit you need to purchase a newly built house or apartment worth up to €500,000. The funds will go towards your deposit, up to a maximum of €30,000 (or 10% of the property price, whichever is less).


To get mortgage approval you need to apply through a mortgage lender or broker. They'll advise you of the different options available. You need to provide different documents around your income; your mortgage lender will let you know what is needed. Don't be daunted as the information is usually readily available from your employer, bank or other organisation.
