On Saturday, April 12th the community of Folkstown Park came together for a meaningful day of environmental stewardship. Organised by Glenveagh, the Community Planting Day aimed to enhance local green areas and promote biodiversity, while at the same time emphasizing the importance of community involvement in environmental conservation.
Despite the overcast skies, the turnout was impressive, with families, local groups, and individuals of all ages participating enthusiastically. Volunteers were provided with native Wildflower seeds to plant throughout the greenery. This is a simple initiative that will provide self-sufficient, almost maintenance-free meadows for years to come.
In addition to the tree planting, the event at Folkstown Park offered a fun-filled day for families, with a range of activities designed to engage children and adults alike. Face painting, games and balloon artists brought smiles to younger attendees, while parents enjoyed fresh brews from a local coffee truck set up on site. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere helped turn the planting day into a true community celebration, blending environmental action with entertainment and social connection.
The success of the planting day in Folkstown Park highlights the growing commitment to environmental sustainability. As the trees planted on April 12th begin to mature, they will not only beautify the area but also contribute to a healthier, more biodiverse local ecosystem. The residents of Balbriggan will be able to enjoy the fruits of their labour for years to come.
