We take a look at some of the fun and interesting things to do in and near Bray, this weekend.

Punk Alley - Theatre for Kids and Grown Ups Too

Punk Alley comes to the Mermaid Arts Centre in a foot stomping hour of fun, great for 5 to 15 year olds and the adults with them. Described as a "loud, wild, and unapologetic joyride of live original punk music and high energy dance", this show is about a group of misfits in a punk band and you're invited to their rehearsal. This is a piece of theatre with heart, fun and the joy of self-expression. Be prepared to join in, but only if you want to!

Punk Alley is on in the Mermaid Arts Centre and on Saturday 1st March there are two shows, one at 11:00 a.m. and another at 2:00 pm. The shows are ISL interpreted. For more information on family tickets and bookings go to the Mermaid Arts Centre website.

Catch the "Cinematic Thread" at Powerscourt

There are still a few days to catch this lovely exhibition in Powerscourt House in Enniskerry. It pays tribute to the rich cinematic history in Wicklow where so many iconic series and big screen epics have been filmed. 17 craft experts from the Made in Wicklow platform have each created a piece inspired by one of those iconic productions and their costumes; the result is stunning. If you've seen The Tudors, The Favourite, Ripper Street or Little Women, to name a few, then this exhibition is for you. The pieces designed are across different specialities, from ceramics to textiles and metalwork and will be displayed alongside the costumes that inspired them, so you'll get to see both in one beautiful exhibition in a fitting setting.

The Cinematic Thread: From Screen to Craft, Powerscourt’s 17:17 Exhibit, will run until Sunday, March 2nd at the Entrance Hall of Powerscourt House in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow. Admission is free.

Rising Star Brings His Comedy to The Whale Theatre

Danny O'Brien is winning awards and it's no surprise. He's had a sell-out run at The Edinburgh Fringe and has been doing the same at Irish festivals over the last while, including filling Dublin's Liberty Hall Theatre. His stand-up show Killa-Dan-Jaro is uproariously funny and the Wicklow native's star is definitely on the rise.

If you want to enjoy a great evening of comedy, then The Whale Theatre in Greystones on Friday 28th February at 8:00 p.m. is the place to be. For ticket bookings see the Whale website.

There is a lot to do around and near Bray this weekend, but we think these three are among the best events for a fun weekend.
