Students at St. Michael's National School in Blackrock, Cork enjoyed a fun and educational morning recently, thanks to a special visit from Glenveagh. Peter Morgan and Shane Curran from the Health and Safety team delivered an interactive talk on site safety to the school’s Junior and Senior Infants.
The young pupils learned about the importance of safety on construction sites in a way that was both age-appropriate and memorable. Peter and Shane used storytelling, visual aids, and plenty of enthusiasm to help the children understand how to stay safe around building sites. They also highlighted the various roles of workers on a construction site, the types of protective gear they wear, and why safety is a team effort.
One of the highlights of the health and safety talk was the young students performing the Irish song "Cúigear Fear ag Tógáil Tí" ("Five Men Building a House"). The children sang the catchy tune with great excitement and energy, adding a charming and cultural touch to the morning’s activities. The song not only showcased the children’s Irish language skills, but also reflected their growing awareness of the construction world around them.
Glenveagh’s visit was warmly received by both staff and students, with teachers praising the initiative for making safety education fun and engaging. It’s another example of how meaningful collaboration between schools and industry can help lay strong foundations — not just for future homes, but for the next generation’s awareness and wellbeing.
