Pupils in 2nd and 3rd class at Scoil Ursula in Blackrock, Cork enjoyed another fun and informative visit this week from Glenveagh. This was the second talk delivered at the school as part of our wider community outreach programme, which aims to promote safety awareness from a young age.
The session focused on the importance of safety in construction and everyday life, tailored to be age-appropriate and engaging for the young students. Peter Morgan and Shane Curran from the Health & Safety Team used real-life examples, props, and interactive questions to teach the children how to stay safe near construction sites and what protective gear like helmets, vests, and boots are used for.
The Glenveagh Site Safety talks help create awareness for children around construction sites. From making sure they are visible when crossing the road to watching out for vehicles and staying clear from risks, the children are given the tools to become more conscious of their surroundings and how to keep safe when out and about.
The talks are about positive reinforcement of safety messages, while also making children aware of things not to do near construction sites. This is a vital part of engaging with local communities and the children who are part of them. Thanks to everyone at Scoil Ursula for welcoming us in to talk about construction site safety.
