How does Croí Cónaithe work?

Croí Cónaithe is a new Government initiative designed to support the construction of apartments that are available for sale to owner-occupiers. 

Through the scheme, the Government will provide funding that will help tackle the high cost of building apartments, which is often higher than their market value.

Croí Cónaithe is currently active in five main cities across Ireland, namely Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford. 


What is Croí Cónaithe?

Croí Cónaithe supports the key national objective to provide much needed housing in urban areas, promoting compact growth and sustainable living within cities. 

This initiative will help kick-start the activation of some of the 90,000 uncommenced planning permissions across Ireland and will open up a new source of housing supply, ensuring that people get to live close to all the amenities cities have to offer. 

Why is the scheme so important?

The scheme is open to any household or individual that intends to buy an apartment as their primary place of residence. This includes first-time buyers, as well as families selling their current home and downsizing.
