Glenveagh supports 10th annual June Fest in Newbridge
June Fest is a community and family-orientated festival run by the non-profit organisation, White Lily Events, in Newbridge each year during the month of June. The festival celebrates and promotes music, arts, culture, nature, sports, heritage, and history by hosting events in Newbridge and the surrounding area. Regular festival highlights include: Yarn Bomb in the Liffey Linear Park, Bands on The Bank, Musical Gigs, Art and Writing competitions, Exhibitions, Family Fun Day, History/Heritage Seminars, Solstice on The Liffey. All events are socially distanced this year. Are you feeling inspired? Why not enter the poetry competition sponsored by Glenveagh. Great prizes up for grabs with vouchers for local shops, restaurants and activities supporting the reopening of Newbridge businesses.
Capture these rare times for future generations to discover. In fifty or a hundred years’ time, our grandchildren and great grandchildren will wonder how we coped as a town and a community during the Covid-19 epidemic. They will want to know how we felt, how we coped with the restrictions imposed on our lives. How were our lives affected by the national pause on weddings, funerals, religious ceremonies, travel and the closure of schools. They'll want to know how we broke the monotony and kept a sense of community. Future historians will lay their hands on these first-hand accounts of life in 2020 and 2021 in Ireland. The intention is to create a permanent archive of what it was like to live in Newbridge during the pandemic which will be published at newbridgehistory.org. The winning entry will receive vouchers to spend locally. All prizes sponsored by Glenveagh
