In this At a Glance with Glenveagh, we take a look at some things to do this weekend in the areas close to Citywest.
Less than a ten-minute drive from Citywest will bring you to the Civic Theatre in Tallaght, a centre of culture, arts and entertainment. They host a monthly comedy club with special guests along the way. This month's club features Ben Verth, Jim Elliott, Shane Clifford and John O Keeffe and promises to be a good show. Lasting over two hours plus interval, you've got a full evening of laughs ahead of you.
The Civic Comedy Club is on Saturday 29th March at 8:15 p.m.For bookings and prices go to The Civic Theatre website.
Corkagh Park, which boasts 120 hectares of land and was formerly part of a manor house and its estate Corkagh Demesne, is one of the most scenic areas where you can spend time in West Dublin and is right on the doorstep of Citywest. In addition to the ample space and wood trails, the park is also home to Ireland’s only purpose-built cycle track, great for cyclists of all ages.
March opening hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Right beside the Civic Theatre you'll find Rua Red, a really great arts centre which is welcoming and open to all. In it you'll find all sorts of things, from the Rua Red book club to talks, workshops, performances and multi-media exhibitions. This is only a stone's throw from Citywest and there is always something running to entertain or challenge, or both. Rua Red features everything from dance to film screenings and of course some really thoughtful art exhibitions.
The current exhibition running at Rua Red is The Goose and the Common; more information available here.
Just a few things to do within easy reach of Citywest over the next week or two.
