Mother Tongues Festival

Less than a ten-minute drive from Citywest will bring you to both the Civic Theatre and Red Rua Arts Centre in Tallaght, where this weekend you can immerse yourself in the Mother Tongues Festival, a celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity in Ireland. This year's festival has a spotlight on second generation children in Ireland and their cultural life and experiences. You'll find exhibitions, storytelling, theatre and some great music. New Music at the Civic

A free showcase of compositions from the participants of the SubSounds Youth Music Collective takes place in the Civic Theatre, Tallaght on Friday 21st February. The musicians are regular performers at The Night Belongs to Us events and they're also recording their latest album at Camden Recording Studio. The show runs from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Expect lots of rock, pop, metal and even some country thrown in. You can find out more and book here.

Ireland Reads Family Event

Ireland Reads 2025 is a celebration of reading and the joy of getting lost in a good book. Throughout February and and particularly on Ireland Reads Day on Saturday 22nd, people are encouraged to switch off and settle in for some reading time. A government initiative and funded by Healthy Ireland, Ireland Reads is supported by public libraries and a host of organisations. As part of the celebration, Rathcoole Community Centre and South Dublin Libraries will be joining forces to bring a fun family event to the area, just a ten-minute drive from Citywest.

The South Dublin mobile library will be at Rathcoole Community Centre from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and there will be a host of fun activities during the day, from facepainting and balloon modelling to a fun-packed show from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will also be storytelling and lots more.
