Glenveagh's Health & Safety team recently visited Castletown Girls' School in Dundalk to deliver an engaging and informative talk on site safety. The initiative is part of Glenveagh’s wider community outreach programme, aimed at educating young people about the importance of safety, particularly around active building sites.
Peter Morgan from Glenveagh’s Health and Safety Team spoke to 3rd and 4th year students about the potential dangers found in construction sites, such as heavy machinery, scaffolding and loose materials. Through age-appropriate language and real-life examples, the team captured the students’ attention while driving home the important message of staying safe around building sites.
The pupilswere shown what personal protective equipment (PPE) looks like, including hard hats, high-visibility jackets, gloves and safety boots, and learned why these items are essential for keeping construction workers safe. The students were also encouraged to ask questions, with many showing enthusiasm and curiosity about how buildings are made and what safety measures workers must follow each day.

At Glenveagh, we will continue our safety education programme with more school visits across Ireland. By focusing on health and safety at an early stage, we hope to build a strong culture of awareness that supports not just the construction industry, but the wider community as well.
Wishing the very best to all the students at Castletown Girls' School.
