Last week Glenveagh volunteers proudly took part in the Early Learning Initiative (ELI)’s A Day in the Life event in Dublin — an engaging career-focused networking session designed to inspire and inform young people about future work opportunities.
A Day in the Life brought together students aged 14 to 17 and corporate volunteers from ELI’s partners, including Glenveagh. The event gave young participants the chance to explore a wide range of careers in a welcoming and interactive setting.
Throughout the day, Glenveagh volunteers met small groups of 5-6 students at a time, sharing insights about their own career journeys, the skills needed in their roles, and the paths they took to get there.
Every ten minutes, a bell signaled the students to rotate to a new table, giving them the chance to meet professionals from various industries and hear about different career options. Volunteers were guided by icebreakers and career-related questions provided to the students, ensuring lively and meaningful conversations at each table.
For the Glenveagh team, the event was a unique opportunity to give back to the community while helping young people broaden their horizons. Volunteers commented on how rewarding it was to engage with the students, answer their thoughtful questions, and perhaps spark ideas about future careers.
“It was inspiring to see how curious and engaged the students were — they asked great questions, and it reminded me why I'm so passionate about my work,” shared one of the Glenveagh volunteers at the event.
Glenveagh is deeply committed to supporting educational initiatives and helping young people access opportunities for personal and professional growth. Participating in A Day in the Life reflects this mission and builds on Glenveagh’s long-standing partnership with the Early Learning Initiative.
By connecting students with real-life role models, events like this help bridge the gap between school and the world of work — offering young people insights that can shape their futures.
Glenveagh looks forward to continuing its collaboration with ELI and similar community programmes, supporting young people as they explore their passions and plan their career journeys.
