Girls' Gaelic Football Gets a Boost in Tyrrelstown

Gaelic4Girls Sponsored by Glenveagh, is a 10-week programme designed to encourage more girls to experience Gaelic Football. It's aimed at 9-13 year old girls who are not currently playing the sport. Earlier this year Tyrrelstown joined the scheme, attracting new players to the girls' game and having a lot of fun along the way.

The Gaelic4Girls programme aims to increase the number of girls playing football in a GAA club and to support the existing players. The programme involves activities designed to be fun, culminating in a non-competitive football blitz at the end of the 10 weeks. This is the third year that Glenveagh has sponsored the programme and we're delighted to welcome Tyrrelstown on board. 

Tyrrelstown GAA Club was founded in 2009. The club aims to include as many young people from the area in Gaelic Games and prides itself on being inclusive and welcoming to all. In their own words: 

"We strive to engender a “Pride of Place” in the youth of Tyrrelstown, Mulhuddart, Hollywoodrath, Bellingsmore, Baymeadows and Hollystown through their connections to the club. Through active participation in team sports young people develop life skills, personality traits and friendships that help them mature into adults who will contribute in meaningful ways to our society".
