At a Glance with Glenveagh - Things to Do in Maynooth this Month

In this At a Glance with Glenveagh we take a look at some things to do in Maynooth during March.

Royal Canal Greenway Walk

Talk a stroll down to the canal harbour just bedside Maynooth train station and you're at one of the key points along the Royal Canal Greenway. Within minutes you'll be away from the hustle of the town and making your way along the canal, close to nature. The Maynooth to Kilcock section of the greenway forms a lovely walk, taking approximately 70 minutes, but you can of course choose to do a shorter stroll. The walk takes you by the side of the south campus and farm at St. Patrick's College and on across some photo-friendly bridges on your way to Kilcock.

The Royal Canal Greenway between Maynooth and Kilcock is a good place for spotting some beautiful birds, including swans and herons. The canal banks are also home to wonderful wildflowers and water-loving plants. This is a really nice spot for a weekend stroll or cycle. You can of course stop off in Kilcock for coffee before the wander back or you can always get the train or bus for the return journey, but whichever you choose, the canal walk is highly recommended.

Art Exhibition at Maynooth Library

One of the great things about having a library on the Main Street in Maynooth is the ability to just drop in to events and exhibitions, when you're out and about. Throughout March, Maynooth Library will be home to an exhibition by artist Karolina Wicha. Titled "The Inner Me" the exhibition is described as "the exploration of the artist ‘s dreams and emotions" and "deeply personal". You can view this free, unique exhibition during March, in Maynooth Library.
