We take a look at some things to do in Navan in the coming week.
Described by the Irish Times as "joyous...magical" and "visually spellbinding", When the Moon Spun Round is a spectacle that brings aerial dance, traditional music, storytelling and theatre together in one show. Running in the Solstice Arts Centre on Friday for schools, and on Saturday for a family show, this production is a "dark and dreamy performance for young audiences".
Leading Irish circus company Fidget Feet Dance and musicians Coel Connected come together to find out what lies behind the moon as it spins around. This is a wonderful show sure to delight any child's imagination. Suitable for children from six up, the show is inspired by the children's poetry and stories of WB Yeats and promises to enthrall audiences of all ages.
When The Moon Spun Round family show will take place on Saturday 1st March at 2:00 p.m. in the Solstice Arts Centre in Navan. Tickets are available from the Solstice Box Office.
If tunes of the 90s and 00s are your thing, then The Wild Rose in Navan may have an event this weekend that's right up your street. Prepare yourself for some throwback sets as four individual DJs bring you through some classic dance, rock and pop tunes from before and after the turn of the century. This is an over 30s event so the music is going to resonate (literally) with the target audience. Looks like a lot of fun.
The Over 30s Night is on Friday 28th February at the WIld Rose, Railway Street, Navan. Doors open at 7:30 and the first DJ set is at 8:30 p.m. You can find out more from the Disco Box Collective Facebook page.
Interested in knowing a little more about the skies above us? Next week, Henry O'Reilly from the Meath Astronomy Club and Boyne Valley Astronomy Club, will give an Introduction to Astronomy talk to celebrate Astronomy Week Ireland. O'Reilly will be chatting about stars, planets and galaxies. He'll also bring the audience up to speed on recent discoveries and how to get started as an amateur astronomer.
Introduction to Astronomy takes place on Tuesday 4th March at 7:00 p.m. in Navan Library. It's a free event, but booking is advised. You can book here, contact Navan Library directly on 046-9097361 or email navanlib@meathcoco.ie
