Glenveagh Properties plc has launched its Net Zero Transition Plan 2023 which outlines its plan to be net zero by 2050.
As part of the plan, Glenveagh has set science-based targets for Scopes 1, 2 and 3, which they have submitted to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for validation. The targets are as follows:
Head of Sustainability at Glenveagh, Lorraine Fitzgerald, commented:
As one of Ireland’s leading homebuilders, we are acutely aware of our responsibility to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. While the journey towards net zero is undoubtedly complex and challenging, we have already made great progress in reducing the operational energy of our homes, and we are confident that with the same determination we can achieve our ambitious target to be net zero by 2050.
Actions set out in the plan to achieve the targets include using renewable fuel on sites, transitioning fleet to electric vehicles (EVs), engaging with suppliers and subcontractors to reduce their emissions, and innovating all aspects of the home building process to reduce the embodied carbon.
