From garden tours to crafts demonstrations and space station contact, Heritage Week events in Balbriggan are nothing if not varied.

North Dublin Radio Club hold Heritage Week event

If making contact with the International Space Station sounds like your thing, then come along to Ardgillan Castle in Balbriggan for a fun event with the North Dublin Radio Club. This group of radio enthusiasts are giving a free demonstration on how to do just that, along with contacting amateur radio satellites. They'll also be celebrating Ireland's part in the development of radio communications. It's the 50th anniversary of the club and there is a lot of expertise in the group, so expect a wealth of knowledge along the way.

On Sunday 25th August the North Dublin Radio Club will be in the Drawing Room at Ardgillan Castle from 12.00pm to 4.00pm, connecting to the world and beyond. For further information call 01 849 2212 or contact ingrid.madsen@fingal.ie.

Ardgillan Garden Tour

Spend your morning wandering through fabulous gardens and by beautiful borders, with a guided tour of Ardgillan Castle gardens with Head Gardener, Dominica McKevitt. This Heritage Week tour will bring you through the castle's walled garden where the vegetable and herb garden is located and on to thriving borders, the stunning rose garden and the recently restored Victorian glasshouses; a very nice way to approach a Wednesday morning.

Places on the Ardgillan Garden tour are free but also limited so booking is advised. Call 01 849 2212 or email eventardgillan@fingal.ie.

The tour starts at 10.45am on Wednesday 21st August at the front of the castle.

Balbriggan Library Talk

On Saturday morning Balbriggan Library will host a talk with former librarian Jim Walsh, as he takes his listeners down memory lane, bringing the history of the library to life. A wonderful Carnegie building which combines the historic and the new, the library has itself some stories to tell. The talk will be accompanied with some great photos of Balbriggan then and now.

The event will take place from 11.00am to 12.00pm on Saturday 24th August. To book a place at the talk please contact Balbriggan Library on 01 870 4401 or email balbrigganlibrary@fingal.ie.
