Today’s announcement builds on Glenveagh’s sponsorship of Maynooth University’s Soccer Development Programme, with the company’s support helping the University’s players and teams achieve impressive results in national competitions, including winning the prestigious Collingwood Cup, the oldest surviving all-Ireland association football competition, in 2025.
Stephen Garvey, CEO, Glenveagh, said: “This is an important step for Glenveagh in advancing our education engagement programme and we are delighted to partner with our neighbours in Maynooth University, one of Ireland’s finest universities, to deliver a comprehensive programme of support and collaboration for the incoming students, with a view to encouraging them to develop fulfilling and rewarding careers in our sector.
“From engineers to business and design graduates, we need to attract a variety of skills into the construction sector over the coming years. We are keen to work with Maynooth University to promote the sector to its students and input into the development of truly industry ready graduates. We are particularly keen to encourage students from Maynooth and surrounding communities and have also built outreach into DEIS schools into the programme. We believe our sector delivers excellent career opportunities across a wide range of skills and we’re keen to highlight that to the graduates of the future.”
Prof Tim Thompson, MU’s Vice President for Students and Learning, said: “Maynooth University is delighted with this new partnership with Glenveagh which will provide our students with important scholarship supports as well as identifying high-quality career paths for them in the critical construction sector of the Irish economy.”
Dr Rose Ryan, Director of Access at Maynooth University, said the partnership aimed to support the many talented students who might not otherwise have the resources or networks to pursue careers in the construction industry.
“Many of these students face persistent barriers to education and career progression, including financial hardship, limited access to academic resources, mentoring, and industry networks—factors that can significantly restrict their opportunities to enter high-skilled sectors like construction.”
